A live action movie of Gintama has been announced. The first trailer for the movie has also been released. The film adaptation of the popular manga by Hideaki Sorachi was confirmed on its official website. The live action film is set to be released in Japan on July 14, 2017. Due to its popularity, the movie will also likely have a limited release in North American theatres.
Gintama is a popular manga that was first serialized on December 8, 2003 and was later adapted into an anime series. Set in Edo which has been conquered by aliens named Amanto, the plot follows life from the point of view of samurai Gintoki Sakata, who works as a freelancer alongside his friends Shinpachi Shimura and Kagura in order to pay their monthly rent.
Gintama is one of the many anime adaptions set to release this year. The trailers for the live action films of Fullmetal Alchemist and Tokyo Ghoul have also released.
