My Hero Academia Episode 1 Recap

Boku no Hero Academia scene 1
The episode starts off with a bunch of super heroes who posses various types of “quirks” (superpowers) attempting to apprehend a bad guy whose quirk allows him to increase in size. When people’s quirks first started appearing throughout the world, the government realized that it needed to establish a special force to deal with users who use their quirks for evil. The government established a superhero agency, who ensure the public’s safety and are paid by the government. The more bad guy they catch, the higher their salary is.

Boku no Hero Academia scene 2
Midoriya carries a notebook titled, “My Hero Analysis for the Future” with himself everywhere he goes and writes down about the superheroes he encounters, such as what their quirk is, what strategy they use to apprehend the bad guys and what their potential weakness might be. Midoriya wants to attend U.A High, a prestigious school for upcoming superhero prospects where only the top 0.2 % of students get in. Katsuki Bakugou, who has known Midoriya since childhood, and bullies him at school, also plans to attend U.A High.

Boku no Hero Academia scene 3
Towards the end of the episode, Midoriya gets attacked by a villain and gets rescued by no other than All Might, the most powerful and famous hero and Midoriya’s idol since childhood. The episode ends with Midoriya asking All Might if he can ever become a superhero like him even though he is quirkless.

Comments
It seems like a very typical Shounen series, where the protagonist starts out as a weaker character, and throughout his journey, attains great powers to becomes the ultimate superhero. Yet still, I think this anime series has a lot of potential to be great. It will still be interesting to see the various character developments throughout the series. Especially between Midoriya and Bakugou, who will become the main rivals in this series. Sort of like Naruto and Sasuke. Comment below what you think of this particular series and any thoughts about the first episode!
