Berserk (2016) Episode 2

Berserk (2016) Episode 2
Berserk (2016) Episode 2 was a lot more exciting than it’s previous episode. I was a bit disappointed with the first episode, but it looks like things are finally starting to get good! This may be one of those anime series that has a slow start.

Berserk (2016) Episode 2 Recap

Berserk (2016) Episode 2 scene 1
In episode 2, Guts is surrounded by the holy knights, who accuse him of committing mass murders throughout the country. The leader of the holy knights is a female named Farnese who seems to be inexperienced in battle. She demands Guts surrender, which he refuses to do, and a battle commences. Due to Guts’ injuries from his previous fight with the evil forces, he is not able to fight with his full strength. Towards the end of the battle, Guts faints due to his injuries and gets captured by the holy knights.

Berserk (2016) Episode 2 scene 2
While Guts is being interrogated by Farnese, he has flashbacks during his time with the Band of Hawks. Farnese questions him how and why the band suddenly disappeared all of the sudden. In one of my previous articles about Berserk (2016), I stated that it may be beneficial to watch the original 1997 anime series. Right now, I definitely recommend viewers watch the original Berserk series before watching Berserk (2016), because otherwise, you’ll be very confused.

Berserk (2016) Episode 2 scene 3
After the interrogation, Guts is placed in a cage. As night draws near, evil forces start appearing around Guts, and he realizes he needs to escape right away. Puck steals the key to the cage, and helps Guts get out of the cage. Guts gets back his sword and other items, and takes Farnese as a hostage in order to escape the holy knights. He is followed by Serpico, who is also part of the holy knights. The episode ends with Serpico aiming his crossbow at Guts.

Berserk (2016) Episode 2 definitely showed promise. We’re introduced with two new characters, Farnese and Serpico. I believe both these characters will play a big role throughout the series. Serpico seems like a cunning, strong character, while Farnese comes off as a fragile, weak character. Comment below and let me know what you thought of this episode!
